  • Condition: This gauge has been in my possession for about 40 years. To those familiar with offset printing, this gauge is a precision instrument designed for the purpose of measuring the depth of ink carried by the ink rolls of the duplicator during a printing cycle. I'm sure it is in working condition but I have no way of testing it. More so, I see this item as a vintage collectable from the former Addressograph Multigraph company. However, if you have a need for such as device, you would have a rare and unique measuring gauge. These is residual tape wrapped around the handle. I do not know why it is there and I will not attempt to remove it.

    Description

    This gauge is a rare and unique instrument that should appeal to collectors of mid-20th century commercial printing accessories.  I've looked exhaustively for similar devices but I do not find like kind or mention of this AM ink thickness Gauge. In addition to its wooden case, there is an instruction sheet that comes with it copyright 1962.  The first page reads:

    The A-M Ink Thickness Gauge (#MA-805-A1) is a precision instrument designed for the purpose of measuring the depth of ink carried by the ink rolls of the duplicator during a printing cycle.
