Description
For offer: a clear strapside whiskey / spirits flask bottle full of mini-marbles. This flask was recovered in a Philadelphia household dump excavation sometime in the last ten years. It is in good dug condition with no damage at all. Clean, clear, and structurally stable. It was blown in clear (decolorized) glass batch into a two-part mold and finished with a tooled double-ring lip in the 1880's era. The marbles were acquired when renovating our last wood shop space in Germantown, NW Phila., PA about 12 years ago. They fell out of the ceiling during a demo of the old homosote-sheeted floor joists. It is unknown to me what era these marbles belong to. They are smaller than standard marbles; on the average around 3/8" in diameter. Clear, light green, blue, and red colors are part of the lot. No idea what they're purpose was either, but the building dates to around the mid-1870's: an old sheet-bending & steam heating shop. There are approx. several hundred marbles, as seen in the images. A very cool, historical, decorative piece. The bottle measures: 6" x 2 3/4"+ x 1 1/2".
