Description
For sale is a nice condition Spalding made Kro-Flite single waterfall F-6 mashie niblick marked "patent applied for", meaning this club was made prior to the patent date of 4/20/1920. These clubs were outlawed in 1922. Spalding made three models of single waterfall irons, the F-6 mashie niblick, the F-7 pitcher and the F-17 pitcher. The pitcher has a little more loft than the mashie niblick and has a more traditional look than the pitcher with its pointed toe. They are very similar clubs overall though. I also have a waterfall F-7 pitcher listed. Waterfall irons are very collectable clubs and make nice, but expensive play clubs. They are a must have club for serious collectors. The club is 35 3/4" long and has swing weight of C-6. The club has approximately 43 degrees of loft. The club was retailed by George F. Sparling around 1920 while at Brooklawn Club in Bridgeport Connecticut. The owners initials of H.P.D. are on the club head. The club head has been cleaned and oiled to prevent further rust. The shaft has been cleaned and oiled with tung oil to prevent the wood from drying out. The grip has been cleaned and has been coated with neatsfoot oil to keep it supple. This club has play potential if the club head was removed from the shaft and repined and a new grip was installed.
