    Description

While not signed other examples similar to this small porcelain ink well leave no doubt it was made by the Pillivuyt family's 200+ year old ceramic factory in the town of Mehun-sur-Yevre, France.  The company very early in its existence gained acclaim by winning several international awards for their products.  This ink well is hand painted with designs reminiscent of Oriental wares.  The bronze top with its hinged cover is in fine naturally aged patina, the hinge secure and functioning, and with what appears to be an old perhaps original glass insert. The height of the piece is approx 3 1/4" H x 3 1/4" W at the handles.  There are some very small areas where the yellow paint has rubbed allowing the white underglaze to be revealed, but these little areas are barely noticed due to the blending coloration. See the 5th photo which shows the largest white spot on the side.  This sweet piece weighs 9 1/2 oz. Check out my OTHER ITEMS/EBAY STORE.

    Unfortunately,
because fewer than half of buyers fail to be courteous and post feedback, I now give POSITIVE FEEDBACK only to those who give me positive feedback after receiving their shipments. I hope to not offend people, but posting feedback seems such a natural, easy and thoughtful thing to do.
FOR BUYERS FROM OUT OF THE US,
if you ask for a shipping quote I do not package, weigh and measure the boxes before the sale closes, so I cannot provide an accurate quote to you.
