Dedicated to the monastery, founded in 1619 on the picturesque elevation of the right bank of the Sula River near the village of Mgar, near the town of Lubny. The Magyar Transfiguration Monastery has always played an important role in the spiritual life of Ukraine. An Orthodox church fraternity was founded here, and thanks to a firm stance in the fight against the expansion of the union on Ukrainian lands, the monastery quickly gained popularity and support among the Cossacks. The decoration of the monastery complex is the Transfiguration Cathedral, one of the outstanding examples of Ukrainian Baroque architecture built at the end of the seventeenth century. at the expense of Hetman Ivan Samoilovich and Ivan Mazepa.
