La Pierre Sterling Intaglio Cut Glass Inkwell - Circa 1900

Excellent minus condition on this La Pierre intaglio cut cherry pattern inkwell. The front & back sides of glass have 1 leaf w/3 cherries and the glass on both of the sides have 3 leaves w/2 cherries. On all four sides a leaf tip curls up on top of the shoulders of the well. The bottom of the well has the standard cut star. Shoulder rims are rounded while the side rims and bottom rim are beveled. The base has less then expected scratching. There is an approx. 1/10" chip to one bottom beveled corner. It is connected to a 1/4" long x 1/16"  wide flat shallow chip on the bottom's base edge that I like to call a flake chip-see last photo. The glass is clean/clear and bright. Sterling lid is nicely in round and closes very firmly and with a loud click. Hinge is original-no repair. The underneath curve of the lid has some  un-even surface/tiny shallow indent lines. Top of the lid has a lovely hand engraved circular floral pattern on it's rim w/a graceful bulge at center. The bulge has been engraved with a very artistic script of initials that due to the artistry I can't decipher. Inkwell stands approx. 3 1/8" tall-lid is 1 3/4"in dia. and base is 2 1/4" square. Package going Priority due to weight.
