    Description

Indian Head Inkwell commemorating Carlsbad Cavern.
The Indian head figure is cast metal that has been painted.  The ink well insert is clear glass.  The feather headset lifts back on a wire hinge to open. The figure is hollow and open on the bottom.  There is a badge shape on the top that identifies it as a souvenir of Carlsbad Cavern.  It has an illustration of a particular stalagmite formation called the Totem Poles.  Indian head inkwells were sold as souvenirs at National Park gift shops in the west in the early 1900's.
    Measures 4" tall, 3.5" side-to-side, 3.25" front-to-back.  It weighs 1 lb. 6 oz.
