    Description

Offered here is an original,  late 19th or early 20th century vintage, cast zinc inkwell in the form of a standing eagle with wings spread. The highly detailed eagle is cast of zinc, and a great deal of hand work was done to add the fletching to the wings and detail to the face.  From the style and construction I suspect that the well is from France. The head is hinged, and when tipped back the blown glass well is exposed for use. The piece measures approximately 7" tall (including the variegated marble base) and 7 1/4" across the wings.  The piece is in excellent condition, showing no damage or repairs of any kind.  A very handsome inkwell.
