BLACK AMERICANA JOHNNY GRIFFIN BRONZE ANTIQUE INKWELL DESK SET SMOKING STAND

Description

This very rare find is in great condition! It measures approximately 9.25” across and 8” front to back. It has a number on the back and a stamp on the front that I took a close up picture of. There are two inkwells that are included with it. No. 51 is in great condition with no chips or cracks. No. 55 appears to be in good condition but I am not able to get the top off and don’t want to force it. I have not been able to find another double inkwell like this one anywhere!
I listed this on auction last week and an eBay user sent me a message saying hat this was actually originally a smoking stand. The circles held metal ashtray cups. It is uncanny that the spots hold inkwells perfectly! I purchased this set from the estate auction of avid collectors that went to every auction that the local house held so they had some of everything. Each item was tagged and this one was tagged as a double inkwell so I don’t know if they put the set together or purchased it that way.
