ART NOUVEAU INTARSIA BRASS AND WOOD ERHARD SOHNE INKWELL INKSTAND
This inkstand by Erhard Sohne is gorgeous. It measures nearly 8” across and 5” front to back. There is a glass inkwell liner though it may not be original because there is a hole in the bottom of the glass. The piece does not appear to have ever been polished; I know it has not been polished in the last 20 years that I have owned it. There are several notches in the brass in front of the actual inkwell that are for resting pens.  It comes from a pet free, smoke free home. There are scratches on the underside of the lid to the inkwell – not visible unless the lid is open. Though it is clearly by Erhard Sohne, it is not marked as is the case with most pieces by Erhard Sohne.
