    Description

    Fantastic antique hinged-head, hand painted Lion Inkwell. Roaring lion bust made of cast metal. The piece is heavy. Has an attached hinged head which opens to reveal inkwell (missing glass insert).  Casting is crisp and naturalistic with alert black eyes, crossed paws and realistic roaring open mouth.  Well painted. Lovely original patina. Very good condition for age and use.  See all photos. When is opened to reveal inkwell, please note original black ink spots around rim and interior of mouth. See photos.  Exterior is in excellent condition with only a few minor use rubbings.
