Antique Goebel Bavaria Crown Mark Porcelain Fish Figure Lustre Vase Glass Eyes
Up for bid is a is what i think is a very unusual piece. It is a porcelain fish vase made by Goebel and from Austria. It has a wide open mouth with glass eyes inserted into the side of the head (metal clips show inside). The glaze is an iridescent mottled pink lustre; fins are yellow and speckled gray; there is white around the eyes.
The underside is marked: There is an ink stamp crown mark and word BAVARIA. Also an impressed crown mark and the impressed number code V.T. 2/779/2. Format of crown mark dates piece to 1935 or earlier.
Piece measures approx 6" long front to back. It sits approx 5 1/4" high.  It weighs under a lb; shipping cost is based on package weight of over 1 lb.
Condition: This piece has one spot of damage - an old chip in the side of the tail. I have included two photos of it (last two). There are no other chips, and no cracks, nicks or dings. One will notice rust on the inside where eyes attach with metal prongs.
As noted this is a bit unusual! Damage is not easily noticed and it is a great find for those who love whimsical fish and ocean theme decor!
