    Description

A little info on this: This inkwell used to belong to my paternal grandfather who was born in January of 1875 (my great grandfather who bought it [I assume], served as a soldier in the Civil War [from the North]).
The item features a cast iron inkwell with very rare glass snail shell bottle made by Clipper. Marked on the bottom:
    Patented March. 12, 1878
    Oct. 8, 1878
    CLIPPER
This is a 19th century piece shows overall good condition. My grandfather would have pulled down the bottle and dip his pen in, then push the bottle back to the resting place. The piece has a rest for three pens across the top.
