    Here's a very rare J.BOWER PHILA emb hand blown figural ham hock whiskey nipper flask from the 1870s with its original 1859/1872 dated cap... It is emb
    J.BOWER & CO PHILA
    in bold letters inside a circle on front of bottle....
    PATD MARCH 30.59 EXT'D MARCH 30,72
    with what looks like the famous CFJCo monogram all emb on top of original nickel plated cap......Hand blown in mold...ground threaded lip with original metal lid....clear  glass with only vestiges of the original paint....6"long... .....Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean bottle with no haze. I have never seen one of these ham hock whiskey flasks embossed before! These novelty figural whiskey flasks of the 1800s came in all shapes....guns, potatoes, fish,ear of corn, pigs, cigars,etc. Saloon owners would purchase the empty bottles from glasshouses and fill the bottles with whiskey. These would then be given away to favorite customers at Christmas, birthdays and special events.
