Description
An incredible Massive 10.5 by 7.5" 2+ gallon olive green 18th century New England Chestnut Flask! Possibly the largest made, this globe shape flask bears several large paddle marks and holds well over 1 gallon. Converted to a lamp at some point and thankfully not drilled, it bears a gummy substance lined with duct tape to the neck interior. Honest wear to the base, large paddle marks, a great swirl to the body and tens of thousands of seed bubbles all speak to a late 18th century Massachusetts or Ludlow CT origin. Colonial might be a stretch, but only by a decade or 2 at most. Likely the biggest chestnut you will ever see. Buyer to pay .95 priority shipping with insurance in the US.
